Can you go to jail for drunk driving?

Will I get sent to jail for drinking and driving in Alabama? I got pulled over with a pretty high BAC, and I’m worried that I’ll have to go to jail and I’ll lose my job!

That does sound really stressful! Under
Alabama
law, you can be sent to jail for up to one year for drunk driving if you are on your second offense or more within the last five years.
For a second conviction, you’ll face a prison sentence of five to 30 days. If this is your third offense, your prison sentence will be at least 60 days and may include hard labor. You’ll face one year in prison for the fourth offense and on.
However, if this is your first offense, you’ll typically just be fined between $600 and $2,100 for the offense, and your license will be suspended for 90 days. You’ll also have to attend a program designed to help with substance abuse or prevent DUIs.
You’ll find it more difficult to find affordable car insurance rates after a drunk driving charge, too. Fortunately,
