Can you get charged for drunk driving without being breathalyzed?

I was reading about drunk driving after one of my friends was arrested for a DUI. He didn’t take a breathalyzer, so I’m wondering how he could have been arrested. Can you still get charged with drunk driving even if you didn’t submit to a breathalyzer?

You can still get arrested for drunk driving without being breathalyzed. In most states, refusing a breathalyzer is an automatic six-month to one-year suspension of your license.
However, this ruling is only enforced if the arresting officer(s) go through with a blood test and field sobriety test to prove that your friend was indeed intoxicated. A lawyer can help fight for your friend and is highly suggested by most law experts.
While you won’t necessarily get a
DUI
conviction, getting a lawyer to fight the charge can cost upwards of $10,000. However, you might be able to save some money in the meantime by shopping around for car insurance with the
