I'm going to be in between apartment leases and thinking about just spending a few nights in my car. Can I get arrested for sleeping in my car overnight?

Let’s check the rule book. Sleeping in your car is not an arrestable offense on its own. The rules and regulations vary greatly state by state and even city by city—but you shouldn’t be arrested. Most law enforcement officers will just ask you to leave or issue you a ticket depending on the law. You’ll want to research your local rules.
Obviously, if you fail to comply with the enforcement officer, the situation could escalate. It’s best to be respectful and move on from your parking spot.
