Yes, you can flood an automatic car if you stay on the ignition key slot for more than a few seconds. Damaged injectors and a cold engine could lead to flooding as well.
To know if your car is flooded, pop the hood and take a whiff. The scent of fuel is a clear sign that it’s flooded. Allow the car to sit for a few minutes and then check the oil dipstick. If the level is above the MAX mark, then you may need to drain it out before starting the car to avoid damaging the bearings.
Otherwise, let the car sit for a few hours to allow the spark plugs to dry out.
