Can you flat tow the 2019 Ford Ranger?
I finally sprung for an RV this summer and I want to take the family out camping. We wanted to bring my Ford Ranger along for supply runs, though. Can you flat tow the 2019 Ford Ranger?

Spending a few weeks in an RV with the family sounds like an adventure! You’ll be happy to know that yes, you can flat tow a 2019 Ford Ranger. Here are the steps to do so safely:
- Put recirculated air mode on to keep exhaust fumes out of the cabin
- Turn your Ranger on without the engine (don’t press the brakes and hit START/STOP once)
- While holding the brake pedal:
- Rotate your 4WD switch to 2H
- Shift transmission to neutral (N)
- Enable Neutral Tow mode from the “Settings” display (refer to your owner’s manual if you have trouble locating it)
- Hit START/STOP once (or turn the ignition key toward the “off” position)
Note that you do not need to disconnect the negative cable from the battery as is often required with flat towing. You can take your Ranger’s keys with you when you leave the vehicle. If you don’t have intelligent access, the key remains in the ignition and you can lock/unlock manually with an extra set of keys or your keyless entry keypad.
