Flat towing—or towing a car with all four wheels on the ground—is a super convenient method for towing a car, but it’s not for every car.
You cannot flat tow an Acura RDX. In 2006,
Honda
, the parent company of
Acura
, changed their policy that had previously allowed flat towing certain vehicles. Now, Acura dealers no longer approve flat towing for any vehicles.
And it’s not that Acura is being unnecessarily strict. If your car doesn’t have the right transmission or after-market modification, flat towing can wreak havoc on your transmission. If you want to safely tow your Acura RDX, you’ll need to get a trailer—or maybe you can find a generous friend to drive it cross-country for you!
