I’m in the market for a new SUV. I really love the Mazda CX 5’s style and fuel economy, but I’m a bit worried that I can’t tow it behind my motorhome. Is it possible to flat tow a Mazda CX 5?

Maybe—it depends on the drivetrain. If you purchase a Mazda CX 5 with front-wheel drive, you can flat tow the vehicle, provided that you put the car in neutral before you decide to tow. However, you can never tow the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the CX 5, as doing so can damage the internal components of the vehicle. Flatbed trailering is the only option for the AWD Mazda CX 5.
