I have a Ford Escape that gets great mileage and is fun to drive. While it’s too small to accommodate my family, I want to tow it behind my truck on our next family vacation. Can I flat tow a Ford Escape?

Unfortunately, you can’t flat tow any Ford Escape model, regardless of the model year, trim, or drivetrain. Flat towing causes the car’s transmission to overheat, which can cause significant damage. However, a hybrid or plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Escape can be flat towed for short distances, although Ford hasn’t divulge any information on just how far that is.
If you want to bring your Escape, err on the side of caution by using a flatbed trailer.
And if you want to save money for the flatbed trailer or a family vacation, reviewing your car insurance policy regularly and comparing quotes on the
