Unfortunately, you cannot flat tow a Chevy Volt, as doing so would severely damage the drive unit and powertrain, as well as void the warranty. Volts use regenerative braking to recharge the hybrid battery, so if you damage the underpinnings of your vehicle, you’re looking at a significantly expensive repair.
However, you can tow the Chevy Volt without problem on a flatbed trailer or a two-wheel dolly. If you decide to use a two-wheel dolly, make sure that you face the car forward. Towing the car backward on a two-wheel dolly can also damage the vehicle.
