Can you flat tow a 2021 Ford F150?
I’m thinking about getting a new truck, but I want to make sure that I can flat tow it behind my motorhome. Is it possible to flat tow a 2021 Ford F150?

Maybe—it depends on whether or not you have two-wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD). If you have a 2WD Ford F150, you cannot flat tow it. However, if you have a 2021 Ford F150 with 4WD, you can flat tow it. Just make sure that you read pages 443 and 444 of your owner’s manual to properly conduct the flat tow.
For the sake of ease, here’s a quick rundown of how to prep your 2021 Ford F150 for flat towing:
- Start the truck.
- Press the 2H button on the 4WD mode control.
- Place your vehicle in Temporary Neutral Mode as outlined on page 255 of your owner’s manual.
- Switch your vehicle off by pressing the push-button start once. A message should appear in the instrument cluster display.
- Switch your vehicle to accessory mode by pressing the push-button start without pressing the brake pedal or by turning the key to the on position
- Press and hold the brake pedal.
- Using the steering wheel controls, select Settings on the instrument cluster.
- Select Neutral Tow.
- Press and hold the OK button until a confirmation message appears in the information display.
