Can you flat tow a 2018 Honda Ridgeline?

I’m gifting my 2018 Honda Ridgeline to my son who lives in California. I plan on attaching it to my motorhome and flat towing it across the country. Is this doable?

What a generous gift! Unfortunately the 2018 Honda Ridgeline cannot be flat towed because doing so will damage the transmission.

Let’s learn more about that.

The Honda Ridgeline is offered in several trims—some come in all-wheel drive, some in front-wheel drive—but all trims come in a standard automatic transmission.

Most automatic transmissions can suffer severe damage from flat towing unless the manufacturer has provided a “transmission disconnect” feature.

Honda does not recommend flat towing a Ridgeline. Instead, consider towing your 2018 Ridgeline on a flatbed trailer.
