I recently bought a motorhome, but I’d like to take my trusty Escape with me on trips. I just want to make sure I don’t damage it. Is it possible to flat tow a 2011 Ford Escape?

Thankfully, you can flat tow a 2011 Ford Escape without any issues, regardless of whether you have the front-wheel or four-wheel-drive (4WD) version.
You can also use a flatbed trailer to tow your Escape. The only towing method you’ll want to avoid is using a two-wheel dolly to lift the front wheels off the ground on the 2011 Escape 4WD**, as this can damage the drivetrain.
To flat tow a 2011 Ford Escape, follow these steps:
Have your transmission fluid level checked by an authorized dealer, as you need it topped off before you flat tow.
Tow only in the forward direction.
Release the parking brake
Place the transmission shift lever in neutral.
Place the ignition key in the accessory position.
Do not exceed 65 mph if the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission or 70 mph if equipped with a manual transmission.
If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, start the engine and allow it to run for five minutes at the beginning of each day and every six hours thereafter.
With the engine running and your foot on the brake, shift into drive and then into reverse before shifting back into neutral.
