Can you extend the Tesla warranty?

I’m buying a Tesla Model S for a pretty penny. I want to be able to drive this car for a while. Can I extend the basic warranty for something more long-term?

Congratulations on the Model S! Your new Tesla will come with a basic 4-year, 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, but you can extend the Tesla warranty by an **additional 2 to 4 years, or 25,000 to 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Here’s what else your basic Tesla warranty includes:
  • 8-year, 100,000-mile battery and powertrain warranty
  • 5-year, 60,000-mile airbags and seatbelts warranty
Tesla only offers extended warranties, or what it calls “Extended Service Agreements,” for the Model S and Model X. The price you’ll pay for the extended warranty will depend on when you purchase it.
  • 2-Year Extended Service Agreement: $2,500 if purchased in 180 days; $3,100 if purchased after 180 days
  • 4-Year Extended Service Agreement: $5,100 if purchased in 180 days; $5,700 if purchased after 180 days
