My car was damaged in a fire a few months ago, and it got a salvage title. It’s in really good shape now and I’m ready to drive it again. Can you drive a salvage title car in Texas?

Sorry to hear about your car, you cannot drive a salvage title car in Texas. You must get it retitled as a rebuilt vehicle.
Salvage cars are not allowed on public roads, and they’re not eligible for car insurance.
If your car has been repaired—and it passes inspection—then you can apply for a rebuilt title. Check with your local Texas DMV branch to find out which forms you’ll need. Once you’ve got the new title, you’re good to go!
