I’m planning on selling my house and moving into a tiny home. I want one of the ones that are actually built onto a truck bed—not the kind that you haul behind a truck. I absolutely know I’ve seen them. But I can’t find one for sale anywhere—all the ones you can buy are the hauling kind. You can get a tiny home mounted in your truck bed, right?

Yes and no. You can have a tiny home that fits in your truck bed—and you’re right in thinking that you’ve seen people with them. However, you’re not likely to find a truck bed-mounted tiny home for sale—you’ll have to build it yourself.
The people you see driving with those built them on their own—which isn’t too difficult to do depending on your skill set. It usually takes 10-12 months and costs $30,000 to $60,000.
One challenge with truck bed tiny homes is that the home itself doesn’t qualify for car or homeowners insurance. You might want to get a
renters insurance policy
