Can you buy a car without a license in Texas?

I’m about to turn 18 in the fall, and I’m hoping to get a car before I head off to college. I found the perfect sports sedan at a dealership in Dallas and I want to buy it before someone else snags it! Unfortunately, I don’t have my license quite yet, and I’m not familiar with the DMV laws in Texas. Will I be able to purchase the car without my license?

Congratulations on finding the perfect car! We’ve got good news for you: Under Texas law, you will be able to buy the vehicle without your license. There aren’t any laws that prevent you from picking up your sweet new ride.
Keep in mind, though, that you won’t be able to test drive the car or drive it off the lot, so it’s probably a good idea to have somebody else with you at the dealership. Also, even though you don’t need a license to buy or register your sedan, you will need to have insurance.
Fortunately, we’ve got a solution for that too.
