Can you add someone to a car loan you already have?

I just got married and my wife needs help rebuilding her credit. I offered to add her to my car loan to get the ball rolling—but if I'm honest, I'm not sure if I'm actually able to do that. Is there any way I can add her to my loan?

Congratulations on tying the knot! It’s a monumental event in your life! I’m happy to say that you can add her to your
car loan
—but you will have to refinance your car loan first.
The refinance process is identical to the first time you purchased a car! The only difference is that you have to include your wife’s information.
Keep in mind, though, that your wife’s credit may actually cause your APR to go up. If this is the case, you may want to consider other alternatives to boost your wife’s credit.
If you decide to refinance the car, you may also want to shop around for a joint car insurance policy—life events like marriage can actually lower your rates! One way to get the best deal possible is to use the
Jerry
app—we’ll get you personalized quotes from top-of-the-line insurers, so that all you have to do is pick the plan that works best for you. (And once you pick one, we’ll even help you switch!)
Best of luck with the loan—and enjoy married life!
