Can my parents temporarily add me to their insurance so I can use their car for a weekend road trip?

I'm 22 years old and I want to go on a road trip for a weekend using my parents' car. Do my parents need to temporarily add me to their policy for this one-time trip?

“If you’re only taking your parents’ car this one time with their permission, they probably don’t need to add you to their
car insurance
. However, if you borrowing the car is an ongoing situation, you should probably have one of your parents add you to their policy.
Car insurance companies rarely add “”temporary”” drivers, so depending on how often you borrow the vehicle, you’ll have to decide if you need insurance. But again, if this truly is a one-time trip, there shouldn’t be a problem.”
