“Lying to your insurance company is technically a form of insurance fraud, and you can get into big trouble for this.

If your insurance company finds out that you and your brother filed a false claim, they will terminate your policy immediately. If you’re able to find another insurance carrier in the future, your premiums will be much higher.

And that’s the best-case scenario. The insurance company could also file a police report, and you and your brother could end up with a criminal record and jail time. “
