Can I temporarily cancel my car insurance on one of my vehicles that I'm not currently driving?
My husband and I own two vehicles. Since I am currently working from home, I'm not driving my vehicle. Should I cancel my insurance on my vehicle to save money, or will it cost me more to reinstate the insurance once I go back to the office? We would keep coverage on our other vehicle.

“Since you plan on keeping coverage on your other vehicle, this would not count as a lapse against you. However, most states demand that any car registered to operate on the road have at least the
minimum required car insurance
. By reducing your coverage to the minimum limit, you would be able to save money and still meet your state’s requirements. You can receive a price for this by reaching out to your current insurer.
If you’d prefer to remove coverage altogether, reach out to your state’s DMV to find out if you are able to register your car as non-operational. This would prevent any violations that may affect your car insurance rates in the future.
