Can I renew my driver’s license online in Massachusetts?

The local DMV office where I live was permanently closed during the pandemic. My driver’s license is up for renewal and I’m hoping I can get this done online instead of having to travel to a DMV that’s far away. Am I able to renew my driver’s license online in Massachusetts?

If you didn’t already have a cozy relationship with the internet before COVID-19, chances are you do now. You can renew your driver’s license online in
Massachusetts
by going to Mass.Gov/RMV and visiting their online service center.
Keep in mind that Massachusetts does require you to meet certain criteria in order to be eligible for online renewal. For instance, you’ll need to provide proof of US citizenship or legal residency as part of the online process.
You won’t be able to renew your driver’s license online if your license has been *suspended** or revoked, if you have unpaid car taxes or parking tickets, or if you have any EZ-Pass fines.
Along with renewing your driver’s license, you might want to take a moment and review what you’re paying for
car insurance
