Can I program a Ford garage door opener without the remote?

I’m not sure what to do. I’ve been trying to program the garage door opener in my Ford but I’ve been having trouble. Everything I can find online says that I need to have my old garage door opener with me in order to program the one inside the car—but I lost that ages ago. Is there a way that I can still get this set up?

Oh no! That does sound very frustrating! Unfortunately, the answer to your question is no—you cannot program the car opener in your
Ford
without a working remote. If you can’t find one of the remotes, the only thing to do is disconnect the door from the mechanism chain so that you can open and close it manually.
The reason why this is going to be impossible is that HomeLink is designed to copy and store codes. It has to essentially learn these codes from places where they’re already stored.
Inside a garage door opener, there is a digital code—like a key—that HomeLink can copy and thereby gain access to the garage door. Without a key to copy, it’s never going to be able to control your garage door.
Best of luck with your garage door issue! I hope that the remote turns up soon!
