Can I insure someone if they live in another state?

Can I add my sister to my car insurance policy if she lives in Louisiana and I live in Alabama? She's struggling financially right now and I want to help her out.

“While you can certainly ask your
car insurance
company if this is possible, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to insure your sister if she lives in another state and drives another vehicle.
Typically, you need to prove that you have some insurable interest in the vehicle. Since you live in different states, this will be hard to prove and you will likely need different insurance policies.
Your sister’s insurance company would have to agree to have someone other than the named insured financially responsible for the policy.
If you really need to insure the car, you may want to ask your sister to transfer the
title
to you. In this instance, you probably have a better chance at getting insurance on her behalf.”
