Can I get low-income auto insurance in Michigan?

My freelance work has dried up and my car insurance bill is unaffordable right now. Does my state offer an auto insurance program for people with low income?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. There’s no special
car insurance
program for low-income earners in Michigan.
To lower your car insurance premium, your best bet is to shop around as much as you can. Get multiple quotes for the same coverage level and compare prices.
Ask companies if you qualify for discounts. For example, if you don’t log a lot of miles, if you bundle your auto and home policies with the same insurer, or if you have a clean record, you may land a discount.
Also, if your car is an older model, you may want to consider dropping collision and comprehensive coverage to save money.
