Can I get a ticket for not having car insurance in a different state if I don't need insurance in my home state of Virginia?
Before I go on a road trip, I want to make sure I'm legally covered by insurance. In Virginia, I opted out of insurance by paying the $500 yearly fee. Would I be legal if I was pulled over in a different state?

“Unfortunately, you won’t be legal to drive in other states. All other states, other than New Hampshire, require you to have state-minimum
liability insurance
to drive. While you can get away with driving uninsured in Virginia, you can’t do this outside of state lines.Furthermore, even driving without insurance in Virginia can be dangerous. You may want to consider getting some decent liability coverage not only to protect yourself in Virginia, but to protect yourself on road trips elsewhere in the US.”
