Can I cancel my car insurance since my car was totaled in an accident?

I had a car accident last week and the adjuster told me my car was totaled. I haven't gotten the claim check yet, but I have an insurance payment due next week. Can I just cancel the policy?

“I am sorry to hear about your car. In most cases, you can either remove the car from the policy or cancel the policy the day after the claim is filed.
It would be a good idea to speak with the adjuster before you do to make sure everything is in order with your claim.
Are you shopping for a replacement car? If so, you might not want to cancel your policy. Have a lapse of
