Can I buy a car with a learner's permit?

Will I be able to buy my own car when I get my learner’s permit, or do I have to wait until I get a full license? I really want my own car so I can go places when I want to, but I won’t get my license for at least another year.

While you can technically buy a car outright with a
learner’s permit
, you won’t be able to get a car loan or purchase car insurance until you have a full license. As such, you won’t be able to register the car in your name or actually drive it unless you name a primary driver who is fully licensed, like a parent or guardian.
Even once you get your full license, however, it’s usually much cheaper to stay on your family insurance. This is because young drivers are considered riskier, meaning you’ll have to pay a lot more for insurance when you first get your license.
