Can electric cars take gas?
I’m considering going electric for my next car, but as someone who frequently drives long distances and is worried about getting stranded without a charge, the convenience of gas-powered engines is pretty undeniable. Are there electric cars that can also take gas in a pinch?

Getting stranded in any scenario is the absolute worst! Fortunately, there are quite a few options for drivers looking to go for a more
eco-friendly
option. For a fully-electric car that is not also equipped with a traditional combustion engine, no, you will not be able to power your car with gas. Electric motors can only be recharged through an external power source or generative braking.
The benefits of this are that you won’t produce any tailpipe emissions, and no longer have to perform routine combustion-engine maintenance such as getting oil changes. The drawback, of course, is that once you run out of power, you’re out until you can get to a charging station.
Much like running out of gas though, electric cars can just as easily be towed by your
roadside assistance
provider to the nearest charging station, *which are only going to become more and more prevalent as electric cars grow in popularity.*If you live in an area where charging stations are few and far between, a hybrid vehicle can offer you the best of both worlds! Hybrid cars contain both an electric battery and a gas-powered combustion engine, meaning you can fuel up just about anywhere and get back on the road.
