Are U-turns legal in New Jersey?

I’ve lived in New York City for the past 10 years but I’m moving to southern New Jersey. While I have a driver’s license, I’m a bit rusty behind the wheel. I just want to make sure I know the laws—can I legally make a U-turn in New Jersey?

Southern
New Jersey
will feel like a whole different world after living in NYC, so get ready for a breath of fresh air—both figuratively and literally. To put your mind at ease, note that U-turns are legal in New Jersey.
However, you should follow a few safety steps before you make a U-turn:
  • Only make a U-turn from the left-most lane on a multi-lane road
  • Yield to all oncoming cars, pedestrians, and cyclists
  • Never make a U-turn wherever a sign prohibits it
Since you’re taking a few minutes to learn about driving laws and U-turns in New Jersey, why not spend a few more minutes researching a new car insurance policy with the
