Are there any drawbacks to owning a hybrid car?

I'm in the market for a new car and I keep hearing great things about hybrid cars. The skeptic in me thinks that hybrid must have some drawbacks. Are there any disadvantages?

Hybrids are certainly appealing choices for the sustainably and economically minded.
Despite the fact that hybrid vehicles save you money at the pump, they do have some drawbacks and downsides including:
  • Higher initial price (up to 20% higher than gas-powered vehicles)
  • More expensive maintenance costs
Additionally, unlike electric cars, hybrids still produce carbon emissions, so they’re not quite as sustainable as we’d like.
