Are solar panels covered by home insurance?
I’d like to install solar panels in my home. I’m starting to budget and determine how much money it’ll actually cost to install them. I want to make sure they have protection if I do install them. Will solar panels be covered by my home insurance?

Solar panels are a great investment! The good news is solar panels should be covered by home insurance.
In most policies, solar panels have coverage under your dwelling or other structures coverage, depending on where you place them. If you haven’t already, you’ll want to review your policy’s terms and conditions or call your insurance provider to confirm whether you’d have coverage for your solar panels.
If you have coverage, be sure your home insurance policy has a high enough limit to cover the replacement of the panels should anything happen.
If you don’t have coverage, you’ll need to purchase a separate solar panel policy or see if your company offers an endorsement for them.
