Are self-driving trucks on the road?

I keep hearing that self-driving trucks are more advanced than self-driving cars. Are they on the road yet?

While you’re not going to see a driverless 18-wheeler making its way down the interstate just yet, tech companies like Waymo, TuSimple, and Aurora, have been making strides towards getting self-driving trucks on the roads.
Designed with long-haul, time-sensitive freight in mind, autonomous trucks have already been tested on highways, although the test runs did include a human in the driver’s seat just in case the sensors or computer systems failed.
Despite testing, it’s not clear when we’ll actually see unmanned trucks on the freeway—since most self-driving truck companies haven’t provided an estimated timeline. One exception is TuSimple, which is developing its autonomous trucks with a goal of beginning factory production in 2024.
