Are my solar panels covered by home insurance?

I recently installed solar panels on my home. My home insurance is set to renew next month, but I want to make sure I have the right coverage. Will my home insurance cover my solar panels?

Congratulations on the new solar panels! In most cases, your solar panels should be covered by your home insurance.
Typically, your
home insurance
will cover solar panels under either your dwelling or other structures coverage. That said, some companies place specific restrictions on solar panels or exclude them from coverage.
Since you’ve already installed your solar panels, you’ll want to reach out to your insurance company as soon as possible. Even if your insurance covers your panels, you may need to increase your policy limits to ensure your policy would cover their replacement should any damage occur.
If your home insurance excludes solar panels from coverage, you’ll need to shop around for another company or look for a separate solar panel policy or endorsement.
If you decide to explore your coverage options, consider using
