Are electric cars more durable?
Are electric cars more durable than other vehicles? I don’t know why, but they seem kind of flimsy. Maybe something like the F-150 Lightning would be able to withstand some punishment, but what about other EVs?

Electric cars aren’t more durable than other vehicles, but they are often heavier and more reliable because there’s simply less that can go wrong with them.
Electric cars can often be 2-3 times as heavy as their gas-powered counterparts, thanks to a massive 1000-plus-lb battery that often sits near the center rear of the vehicle. This is actually a concern in

, because, with low centers of gravity and heavier curb weights, electric cars can easily cause more damage to traditional vehicles and seriously injure their occupants. Electric cars are also more reliable because they rely on electronics, not on as many mechanical parts to function. With no multi-speed transmission, piston engine, or brake fluid, there’s just less that can malfunction. Where EV owners really run into trouble, though, is when it comes to computer issues, which can affect a huge amount of the car’s functionality, from gear shifting to its display unit.
