Are electric cars inconvenient?
I’m thinking of buying an electric vehicle, but I’m worried about battery range and how long it takes to charge up. How inconvenient is it to own an EV?

You’re not the only one asking this question. Range anxiety and charging times are two of the most common reasons people are still hesitant to buy electric cars. The level of inconvenience depends on a few factors, but in general, things have improved dramatically over the last few years, especially in the range department.
As of this year, only three of the new EVs available in the U.S. have range-potentials under 200 miles: The Nissan Leaf, Mazda MX-30, and Mini Cooper SE Electric. Unsurprisingly, these are three of the cheapest models on the market as well.
Any of the other new models should get you at least three hours-worth of driving, given that weather conditions are mild. In temperatures under 20° F and lower, battery range starts to drop dramatically.As for charging times, that too has improved. EVs with Level 2 charging systems should be able to fully juice up over night. Level 3 charging systems such as those used by Teslas can do the same in an hour or less.
