Are Corvettes muscle cars?
I’ve always wanted a muscle car and I’ve had my eyes on a Chevy Corvette. But after talking to a gearhead friend of mine, he told me that a Corvette isn’t a muscle car. Is this true? Is a Corvette a muscle car?

While it’s more semantics than anything, a
Corvette
is not a muscle car by definition. A Corvette is actually a sports car, while newer, souped-up versions are classified as supercars.To fit the definition of a muscle car, the car must be a two-door coupe with a high-powered engine that ignores the lithe, lightweight bodies employed by sports cars. Because a Corvette is super lightweight due to its fiberglass construction and features a more aerodynamic body than muscle cars, it’s not a muscle car.
But that doesn’t mean it lacks in power or style. It’s still an American classic, whether you purchase the original 1953 Corvette or the brand new Corvette Stingray.
