Are Audi SUVs expensive to maintain?

I’m looking to surprise my partner with a new Audi SUV (she loves everything German—coffee, clothes, cars, the works). She currently drives another luxury SUV, and she’s a bit irritated by how much it costs to maintain. Are Audi SUVs expensive to maintain?

Compared to the average vehicle on the road,
Audi
SUVs are expensive to maintain, with an average yearly maintenance cost of $890, according to RepairPal.
Currently, Audi sells six SUVs in the U.S., with the family-hauling Q7 ranking as the most expensive to maintain, and a new player—the new electric Q4 e-tron—ranking as the cheapest to maintain on an average yearly basis. Here’s how Audi SUVs stack up in terms of maintenance costs, from cheapest to most expensive. All prices are courtesy of RepairPal.
  • Q4 e-tron/Sportback: $339 per year
  • Q3
    : $915 per year
  • Q5
    : $928 per year
  • Q8
    : $987 per year
  • e-tron/Sportback: $987 per year
  • Q7
    : $1,185 per year
The discrepancy between the Q4 e-tron maintenance cost is due to the fact that it is an electric vehicle, with far fewer parts to service and maintain than a gas vehicle. Also, the Q4 e-tron, which starts at $49,995**, is the affordable version of Audi’s electric SUV. The e-tron, with starts at more than $71,000, is a much pricier vehicle, and thus more expensive to maintain.
