Will the number of cars on the policy affect how much we'll pay for insurance?

I'm 17 and I want to be added to my parents' car insurance policy. I also want to eventually add my own car to the policy, which means we'll be insuring three cars in total. Will the number of cars on the policy affect how much we'll pay for insurance?

“Yes, the premium is based on the:
  • number of vehicles
  • types of vehicles
  • number of drivers
  • age of drivers
Because you’re a relatively new driver, insurance companies tend to increase the rates of how much your family will pay. But it’s really
easy to add you to your parents’ car insurance policy
.
A quick look at what your parents will need includes:
  • Your date of birth
  • your driver’s license
Then they just have to contact their insurance company or broker. Easy.
Adding your own car to the policy is also very exciting and easy! Your family might want to check and see if your car insurance company offers multi-car policies. Many car insurance companies offer discounts for multi-car policies. You can
check online and get a quote
