What do I do if I disagree with my insurance company's decision that my car is a total loss?

I got into a pretty bad crash and my car got the worst of it. The insurance adjuster decided that my car is a total loss, but I think it can still be saved. What do I do?

“I’m so sorry to hear about your accident and that your car’s pretty bad off!
There are some things you can do if you think your car isn’t a
total loss
. Sometimes you can debate with your insurance provider, if:
  • you have evidence that your vehicle is worth more than the number the insurance adjuster is giving you.
  • you don’t believe your vehicle should be deemed a total loss.
It’s helpful to know what the
ACV or the Actual Cash Value
of your car is, as this gives you negotiation power. If your insurance company isn’t budging, you can also hire an attorney to help you negotiate with the insurance company.
You will likely see an increase in your rates after an accident. If the rates are too high, try using
