Does home insurance cover medical devices?

A car accident left me physically disabled and I'm dependent on medical devices to work and generally live my life. Are these devices covered by home insurance?

Yes! In most cases, medical devices are considered personal property and will be covered on your homeowners or renters policy as such. If you have items like hearing aids, a wheelchair, or prosthetic devices, you are well aware of how costly they can be! Make sure to increase your personal property coverage to include these items, and speak to your insurance agent about any exclusions your policy may have.
Also, wear and tear is not covered on a home policy, so it is a good idea to check with the manufacturer of your device to see if you have any type of warranty.
