Does home insurance cover firearms?

I own a gun for personal protection since I live in an area with a history of break-ins. Will my insurance cover this gun and any other firearms I buy in the future?

Yes! A firearm is considered personal property and will be covered from any peril that your other personal property is protected from, like fire. The biggest difference is that firearms have a $2,500 limit after being lost, stolen, or damaged. If you have a gun that is considered art or an antique, you should speak to your insurance agent about scheduling these items on your policy. This will provide an extra level of protection, as well as higher coverage limits.
