I was out drinking with friends and one of them wanted to drive home. I wasn’t sure how to handle it. Any advice on how to stop someone from driving drunk?

These situations can be tricky so we’re glad you asked! If you need to stop someone from driving drunk, offering them a ride or reporting them to the establishment you’re at can be helpful.
The next time you see someone too drunk to drive trying to get behind the wheel, try the following:
- Don’t be confrontational—you don’t want them to push back or a fight to break out.
- Offer to buy them a cab or give them a ride home if you are sober
- Slowly speak to them in a friendly tone
- Ask a friend for assistance
- Take their keys away from them
- Report them to the establishment you’re at or call the police for help
