with a price tag of $3 million are not unheard of. However, the Koenigsegg Jesko sets itself atop the heap as the first one to reach a speed upwards of 310 mph.
, which boasts about its speed in its moniker — named after Huayra-Tata, the Quechua god of the wind — the Jesko draws its modest name from the Swedish company's founder, Jesko von Koenigsegg.
Though the name might be modest, there's little else about the Jesko that's modest from its top speed of 500 kph to its 1280-hp V-8 engine and nine-speed transmission.
Looking over the outside of the Koenigsegg Jesko
The Jesko features all the exterior features you'd expect from a high-performance car — a front splitter, rear diffuser, and massive wing that adjusts to speed conditions. According to a review in
, the wing acts to maximize downforce and minimize drag.
The forged aluminum wheels are set in a staggered mode, with 20-inch wheels up front and 21-inch on the rear with a massive brake. All cars also feature rear-wheel steering to deliver faster cornering, improved maneuverability, and a better steering feel.
The Koenigsegg Jesko also includes the Autoskin, which first appeared on the Koenigsegg Regera. This function opens all body panels with a single button press and includes sensors to prevent doors from opening if there is an obstruction.
It also features the company's dihedral doors that allow the doors to open up and out at the same time. The Jesko features longer doors to accommodate the extra interior room added for this model.
The Jesko's twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 generates 1280 horsepower and 1106 lb-ft of torque on pump gas and flies even higher on E85 with an output that reaches 1600 horsepower.
The V-8 crankshaft weighs in at a meager 28 pounds, which Koenigsegg claims is the world's lightest. It is crafted from a single solid steel billet, and its flat-plane layout creates even firing across engine banks.
The nine-speed gearbox, named the Light Speed Transmission (LST), was specially designed by Koenigsegg. It features a multi-clutch system that shifts faster than dual-clutch and allows the driver to skip gears when maneuvering.
The company reports the Jesko produces 1,764 pounds of downforce at 155 mph and as much as 3,086 pounds at higher speeds, nearly the full weight of the car.
The Jesko includes all the swank one would expect with a $3 million automobile, with all the leather, aluminum, and carbon fiber you could ask for on the interior. The Jesko seats two with storage behind the seats, in a glove box, and a hidden panel in the door for personal items.
Another unique feature of the interior is the instrument panel is attached to the steering wheel so it will turn with the wheel but maintain a level display, so your readings are not blocked by the steering wheel when turning.
Now, the question remains, if you have your $3 million-plus ready, can you get into a Koenigsegg Jesko? Probably not, unless you've already reserved your model. The company will produce only 125 vehicles the first year, and all have been spoken for.
