has reported that Chevy has decided to team up with Costco to offer new discounts. Here’s more details about the savings and whether it’s worth looking into.
Chevy and Costco are teaming up
Chevy is offering a $3,000 Costco discount for consumers who plan to buy or lease a 2021 Chevy Bolt. It's the same deal that ended on April 30, so if you missed it, now is the time to take advantage of it. This deal can be transferred to people in the same household.
If you were a Costco member as of May 31, you’re eligible for the discount; the offer will end on August 2. Unfortunately, consumers who don’t live near a Costco or don’t have a membership won’t benefit from this incentive.
Other Chevy models will be getting a discount
Since the last deal, this offer now includes the 2022 Bolt EV and Bolt EUV crossover. But, these vehicles are only eligible for a $1,000 discount. Chevy won’t be offering rebates on the 2022 Bolts, so it’s working looking into the Costco offer.
Whether you want to buy or lease is up to you, but given the high cost of leasing a 2022 Bolt, you might be better off buying it outright. Since there aren’t rebates available for the new Bolts, it won’t make much of a difference if you buy instead of lease.
Chevy has cut most other incentives and rebates
Many automakers are still recovering from the effects of the pandemic, especially due to
supply shortages
. That’s one of the reasons why manufacturers have cut incentives and discounts on their vehicles. Ford
has also eliminated the majority of their rebates and cash bonuses, but is offering a $1,000 discount for out-of-stock vehicles.The MSRP and the invoice for 2022 Bolts are virtually the same price now, which means you don't have much negotiation room. The new Bolt or Bolt EUV will be considerably more expensive than the current model.
The current hatchback has better incentives according to CarsDirect. If you’re eligible for any of the Costco discounts, it's a good idea to take advantage of them. Either way, you should make sure you know what the total price will be for a new vehicle, and if it still fits in your budget.
