Toyota makes some of the world’s most reliable cars and SUVs, but neglecting regular maintenance will undermine even the best vehicle. Keep your Toyota in peak form by following a maintenance schedule according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Let’s face it: scheduling maintenance for your car or SUV is the car owner’s equivalent of booking a dentist’s appointment. But skipping routine maintenance can lead to serious problems down the road and land you with a big repair bill when you least expect it.
If you’re not sure where to begin with maintenance, don’t worry! Whether you drive a RAV4, a Camry, or a Tacoma, car insurance broker and super app

Why it’s important to follow a regular maintenance schedule

Maintaining your car—instead of just waiting until something breaks—is the best way to keep your vehicle in safe and efficient condition on the road. It’s also a way of avoiding unexpected repairs and the financial headaches that come with them.
Many auto experts recommend following the “30-60-90 rule” for car maintenance. According to this system, you should get your car serviced every 3,000 to 6,000 miles. That routine maintenance should include:
  • Oil change
  • Tire inspection and rotation (if necessary)
  • Brake check
  • Wiper blade replacement
If you stay on top of these car maintenance fundamentals, you should be okay. But if you really want to maintain your car properly, it’s best to follow the schedule recommended by your manufacturer for your specific make and model.
Because Toyota’s lineup is so vast, we’ll focus on their two most popular models in this article: the RAV4 SUV and the Corolla sedan. You can use the same schedules for many other Toyota models, and it’s always a good idea to check your owner’s manual for maintenance recommendations.

You should also perform an oil change at 5,000 miles if you’re driving a lot in cold temperatures or at low speeds. If you drove your RAV4 on dirty or dusty roads, or over a lot of melted snow, it’s also a good idea to inspect the following components every 5,000 miles:
