. Where can I find my Smart Car’s paint code?
No matter your Smart model, your paint code will be on the manufacturer’s sticker. There are a few places to locate the manufacturer’s sticker:
The engine firewall (beneath the hood)
The door jamb of the driver’s side door
Once you’ve found the manufacturer’s sticker, you’re looking for a code with a mix of numbers and letters. Paint codes can vary in length and composition depending on your Smart model and year.
Sometimes, the sticker will have two codes listed—one will be a mix of numbers and letters and the second just letters. Both codes work when searching for your paint color online.
If you’ve checked all these spots and still can’t find your manufacturer’s sticker and paint code, no worries—you can search for your car’s paint color with your vehicle identification number (VIN). The VIN will be listed on your vehicle’s certificate of title, insurance documents
, or inside the vehicle. This sticker will be in a different place depending on your car’s make and model:
450: look for a sticker that is in front of the engine cover or behind the right-hand side of the engine cover under the carpet
450 Fortwo (1999-2000): the VIN will be printed on the edge of the engine’s battery box
Fortwo 451: the VIN sticker will be in the small window on the lower right-hand side of the windshield, and also on a sticker in the door jamb
Roadster 452: look for a sticker at the back, right-hand side of the engine bay aperture, and in the door jamb
453 Fortwo: the VIN stamped into the frame underneath the carpet flap of the right side passenger seat
453 Forfour: the VIN stamped into the frame underneath the carpet flap of the right side passenger seat
