What is the right tire pressure for a Nissan Maxima?
For most Nissan Maximas, the recommended tire pressure is 33 psi for the front and rear tires.
Check your owner’s manual to confirm that this is the proper psi for your vehicle. There should also be a sticker on the door jamb on the driver’s side with a psi reading.

How to check Nissan Maxima tire pressure
Some Nissan Maximas have a digital vehicle information display. If so equipped, you can view live tire pressure on your screen along with an alert whenever low tire pressure is detected by your tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Otherwise, you might notice an uneven ride or unusually lopsided steering if your tires are low. Don’t put off checking the pressure!
If your Nissan Maxima has Easy-Fill Tire Alert, your car can guide you as you fill up the tires with visible and audible warnings.
Here’s how Easy-Fill works. Once you start filling the tires, your hazards will begin to flash. Once your tires reach the proper pressure, the lights will stop flashing and your horn will beep once. If a tire is overinflated by more than 4 pounds per square inch, the horn will beep once and your hazards will flash three times.
Nissan recommends that all drivers manually check tire pressure every month. You can do this with a tire pressure gauge, available at most auto shops for about $20, or go to a gas station air filling station. Remove the valve stem cap on a tire and press the gauge onto the valve stem. It should read 33 psi. If it’s low, add some air!

It’s a good idea to check your tire pressure once a month or before any road trips/long drives.
How to tell if your Nissan Maxima needs new tires
Most drivers should replace their tires approximately every seven years, depending on their annual mileage. You may have an extremely long commute with a lot of stops and starts, for instance, whereas another driver may drive infrequently but often on roads with potholes.
Look for bulges, cracks, and uneven tread to determine if your tires are on their way out. You can use the penny trick to see if the tread depth is safe enough.

How to reset the Nissan Maxima tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light
You should never ignore warning lights on your dashboard. Instead, get the problem fixed so it will turn off. But what if you fix the tire pressure and the warning light is still on?
Once you’ve filled up the tires to the proper psi, you can reset your Nissan Maxima TPMS light by driving at a speed above 16 mph for about 10 minutes. Then, the light should turn off by itself. If it doesn’t, visit a Nissan dealer for assistance.
Depending on your model year, there may be a TPMS reset button under the dash. If so, turn your key in the ignition to the ON position and press the reset button for several seconds.
You can also try inflating your tires to above 33 psi. Then deflate them to below 33 and re-inflate to 33 psi. Go for another drive and see if the system recognizes the new tire pressure.
