What kind of oil does a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid engine need?
A 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid engine requires Motorcraft SAE 0W-20 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil, as recommended by the manufacturer. You should always follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for your engine’s oil.
What do those numbers mean? The 0 indicates the oil’s viscosity, or thickness, when the engine is cold. This oil will remain relatively thin at very low temperatures.
The 20 means the oil remains thin at normal operating temperatures, as well. The W stands for winter.
This type of oil works well under a range of temperature conditions, meaning it will cause less wear and tear on your engine.
How often to change the oil on a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid
Now that you know your oil capacity, you can change your oil!
Ford recommends changing your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. If you drive infrequently, you might want to change your oil every six months.
Get into the habit of checking your car’s oil regularly to ensure it has the appropriate amount. Here are some signs that it's time to change your oil:
You hear strange and/or unfamiliar sounds coming from your engine
You smell oil, burning, or smoke
You notice changes in how your vehicle performs
How to change your oil and oil filter
You’ll need a few essential car tools and supplies to properly change your oil: a socket wrench, a drain pan, and a filter wrench to remove the current filter. You’ll also need to buy a replacement filter and five quarts of Ford’s recommended motor oil.
To start, run your engine for a few minutes until it reaches operating temperature. In normal weather, this should take about five minutes. Once the engine is warm, shut it down, pop the hood, and follow these steps to change your oil:
Slide underneath the engine, remove the oil drain bolt and washer, and drain the old oil into the drain pan
Remove the old oil filter while letting the oil drain
With a new washer, replace the oil drain bolt, tightening it to 29 lb-ft
With new oil, refill the engine and replace the fill cap
After changing your oil, it’s a good idea to turn on your car and let your engine run for about 30 seconds before you check the oil level. This will give you a more accurate measurement, and you’ll be able to top it off if necessary.
Now, run the engine for a few minutes and watch for any leaks. So long as there are no leaks, and your car's oil pressure light
is off, you’re good to go! Be sure to clean up by putting any used oil into a sealed container, and then bringing the old oil to a recycling center. Don’t pour old oil onto the ground or into the garbage.
