If you end up pouring the wrong oil into your engine, you could possibly cause severe damage to your Enclave. That’s why we can’t stress enough how vital it is to determine the correct oil for your engine if you don’t already know. Buick recommends using a fully synthetic 5W-30 engine oil with a dexos1® certification to ensure your engine remains in perfect form.
Okay, but what do these characters even mean? Great question!
The label tells you the oil’s viscosity or thickness. The number 5 indicates that the oil has a low viscosity at 0°F while the letter “W” stands for winter. And the number 30 specifies that it can withstand extreme temperatures up to 212°F.
Basically, you need to look for an engine oil with those ratings so it can easily handle working in cold weather conditions.
