background
The steering wheel of a 2012 Honda Civic is 14.5 inches in diameter with a grip circumference of 4 inches. When buying steering wheel covers for the Civic you should look for covers between 14” and 15”.
If you’ve never thought about buying a steering wheel cover, you should probably think about what an impact it can make for a relatively cheap customization option, especially as it’s easy to do and doesn’t even affect your

rate. But of course, you need to know what size to buy as not all steering wheels are created the same.
Here are some tips to help you find the perfect steering wheel cover for your 2012 Honda Civic.

2012 Honda Civic steering wheel size

The steering wheel on a 2012 Honda Civic is 14.5 inches in diameter with a grip circumference of 4 inches. However, you might see this written differently as wheel diameter x grip circumference. In these circumstances, it would be written as 14 ½” x 4”.
The good news is that all trim levels for the 2012 Civic have the same size steering wheels, so whether you’ve got an ES, an ES-T, or an EX Plus, the wheel measurements are the same.

How to measure the size of your steering wheel

You can easily measure the size of your steering wheel yourself. All you need is a ruler or a measuring tape. Measure from the outside of one side of the wheel directly across to the outside on the other side and you’ll have the diameter. Just like you used to do with circles in elementary school!
You need a measuring tape for the grip circumference, unless you have a particularly bendy ruler, as this means wrapping it around the wheel. If you don’t have tape you could use a simple piece of string, mark it off with a pencil where it meets itself, and then measure that against the ruler. Be sure to measure the thickest part of the wheel, otherwise, your cover might not fit properly.

How to choose a Honda Civic steering wheel cover

So, if you’ve never had a steering wheel cover for your car, why would you want one? It can help improve your grip on the wheel by minimizing the damage that can happen through wear and tear, as well as making it more comfortable.
Another major advantage is that it can offer a real upgrade to the look and feel of your interior if you pick the right cover. If you couldn’t afford to go for one of the more expensive trims, you’ll be amazed at what a difference a wheel cover can make.
But you’ll need to make sure you find one that is not only the best-looking but is also going to be good for your driving technique. After all, a steering wheel is not a part of the car that you can afford to take risks with:
  • Make sure it’s a good fit. You should usually aim to have a wheel cover that is within an inch of your wheel size. So it can be 15 inches, but not 13 or 16 inches. Check the specifications carefully before buying.
  • Get the right material. This is where you need to choose the right balance between style and function. A genuine leather steering wheel cover may cost more than a suede one but it would take longer to show wear and tear. Check out stores like Wheelskins® to find the right material for you.
  • Read the reviews. Of course, you can save money by shopping around online but when it comes to physical products sometimes you might not get what you’re hoping for. So be careful to read the reviews before you order. Otherwise, you might not get a nice surprise.
When you’ve got your cover, it’s time to install it. Unfortunately, it’s not quite as simple as you might expect, but it’s certainly one of the more straightforward ways you can upgrade your vehicle. You certainly aren’t likely to end up covered in oil, at the very least.
But it may take a fair amount of elbow grease and sweat to actually get it to fit on your wheel. After all, it’s meant to be a tight fit. A useful tip can be to use a hair dryer to soften the cover, which will help it to stretch more easily. Other wheel covers can be stitched on, which is easier than stretching, but can take longer.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
